Purpose & Significance

The fourth edition of Sustainability Talks was held under the theme of “Soil and Food” in observance of World Soil Day to discuss the importance of soil quality for food safety with a special focus on sustainability.

 

General Information

  • * The invited speakers of the event included Mr. Tangör Tan, faculty member at the Department of Gastronomy at Özyeğin University, and Prof. Dr. Zafer Yenal, food sociologist and faculty member at the Department of Sociology at Boğaziçi University.
  • * Participants discussed the concept of “Sustainable Soil Management” for productive and healthy soil.
  • * Discussions underlined the fact that healthy food can be harvested only if soil is healthy.
  • * Discussions also dwelled on how the upcoming regulations on carbon content will reduce the negative implications of climate change on the agriculture sector.
